Roe v. Wade created the central court decision that created the current abortion laws in the Unites States. This decision was established in Washington, DC. The case was argued in December 13, 1971 and decided in January 22, 1973. This decision was ruled by the Supreme Court that women were allowed the rights to abortion, and this implied to their personal and privacy from the Ninth and Fourteenth Amendment. The claim was made by Jade Roe that abortion law in Texas violated the constitutional rights for her and other women. This case changed history for abortion and women's rights. It is also an important milestone in giving women more freedoms and have a say about their own bodies, but there are also boundaries that abortions cannot not be legalized after three months of pregnancy and it still affects today.
In Roe v. Wade supreme court case, the court said that a fetus is not a person, but as a “human life” and is entitled to equal protection under US statute and thus has a 'Right to Life'. The court said that women are allowed to make their own decision prior to have an abortion when they are in their first trimester and only the first trimester. It ruled that in the United States a fetus's life is not protected for at least the first three months. After the first trimester, the fetus begins to developed its organs, brains, nerves, and every part of its body starts to fully develop -- that is when abortion is demand and illegal.
The doctors and medical professor knows that after the first trimester, the patient cannot make the decision of receiving an abortion. In the CNN news on the article “Some states using Roe v. Wade to restrict abortions,” the CNN website has a video that they interviewed several medical professions and doctors at an abortion clinical hospital and the doctors talked about the significance of a women getting abortion. A Texan doctor proposed that there are nearly 9,000 women who gets abortion every year. In Texas, 72, 470 received an abortion in 2011. In the U.S. 1 in 3 women will have an abortion by age 45. The news reporter said the women who wants to get an abortion has to stay in the hospital for at least 24 hours. There are also two options: 1) If the woman wants to get an abortion, she will have to see the ultrasound of her baby and carefully listens to the baby’s heartbeats and examine every parts of the baby in her belly. 2) If the woman does not what to see or hear her baby, she will have to listen to the doctor described the image of her baby. This situation slightly terrified some women. It puts on more pressure on them because to get an abortion, they will have to physically see or hear their child, which frightened them because they just want to get it over with.
There are many who think abortions is the right thing to do if one can not be a provider of the child, but there are others who thinks abortions is a harmful thing a human-being can ever do to a “potential life.” According to an article “Roe V. Wade Turns 40, but Debate Abortion is Even Older” it stated that, “This source gave a brief summary about the Supreme Court Case that legalized abortions and how it is an act upon womens. According to the interview of Greenhouse who spent 30 years covering the Supreme Court for thee New York Times and now lectures at Yale Law School said, “One important thing most people don't realize, says Greenhouse, is that the move to relax state abortion laws came not from women's rights groups but from the medical profession and a prominent apolitical group of judges and lawyers called the American Law Institute.” This statement was confirmed and agreed among many other people. If abortions wasn’t an option for women to risk a life, there would be less chance for abortions.” Whether the abortion decision is made upon women's rights groups or medical professions, every act upon abortions is a huge impact on women's and their families on newborns, the impacts on providers protesting about abortions, a larger view of the impact on the American Political Culture, Impact on Feminism, and The Future of Legal Abortion: An Election Postscript. These main topics relates back in anti-abortions.
Roe v. Wade legalized abortion is also relevant to the Ninth and Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution. The Ninth Amendment to the United States Constitution is a certain rights that shall not be deny or disparage others retained by the people, and the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution is called the rights of citizens. Roe v. Wade legalized abortion is relevant to these two amendments because Roe stood up for the women’s groups right to allowed rights in abortions for womens in Texas, and the Supreme Court made the decision to allowed the abortion rights to become legalized with certain boundaries in the United States.
